Happy Easter!
So how was your Easter? Ours was a wonderful and eventful one!
This morning started out pleasant as ever! Adam and I awoke to the alarm in a good mood, ready to "hop to it" (sorry to the pun) and get going to church. Sydney quickly bounced in our room with her baby brother and announced she had been up "FOREVER" and already made her bed and took a shower and everything. (Happy Easter to me! Thanks Syd!) Sydney also announced that the bunny had made it to our home and left some wonderful surprises for her and Jack.
That cute bunny! He brought a basket full of board books and a soft lamb for Jack and a basketful of wonderful gifts for Sydney! A pedicure kit, a sleepy time satin mask, glittery pencils, erasers, flowers seeds, bouncy balls and of course a bit of candy. No chocolate bunny! Oh well~
So, after some play time in bed, all was right with the world so we decided to get up and start showers for the rest of us. That's when things took a bit of a memorable turn....
As Adam and I were in the bathroom getting ready, Jack was crawling all around. Well, he stood up next to the shower doors and lost his footing and WHAM! Down he went! Both Adam and I thought it was just a slip and fall situation, but then we saw the blood. UGH!
Turns out our dear son really whacked his face on the track of the shower doors and sliced his eyelid! OUCH! So, there we were, holding our baby as blood gushed down his face. Well, it was bad, but not as bad as it could have been, thank goodness! It was a pretty good slice though, took a long time to clot. We had to swaddle Jack in a towel to stop him from wrestling us as we tended to his eye. Did you know band-aids don't like to stick to eyelids? We ended up putting surgical tape on the lid to hold the wound together so it would stop bleeding.
Well, I must say, both Jack and Adam were troopers! First major blood injury and they both did stellar! Adam was calm and ran and grabbed anything I asked for, and Jack calmed down once I started sing Itsy Bitsy Spider.
So...now we have an Easter morning memory. I know years from now Adam and I will look at each other and say...'Remember Jacks first Easter when he banged his face and got that shiner?'
Too much! So here are so pics. Looks pretty good in the pictures. The bruising is darker now...
But we did get to my moms. I was glad of that because I am still so tired lately. It was nice to get out of the house and go somewhere besides the ortho or UCLA. We had a lovely time at Nana's. She spoiled the kids and they had a mini Easter egg hunt in her yard. Sydney even got her chocolate Bunny! ( A HUGE one!)
The family enjoyed a ham, I had soup, but it didn't matter because I loved being all together. Grandpa and Jack spent some quality time together too. Our special treat was cousin Sadie stopping by and bringing her new dog! So glad to see my Sadie girl.
It was a wonderful Easter even with the events of the morning! We are so lucky to have my family live so near. And now we are going to end this day by having a late dinner of Belgium Waffles. I think if I soak them in syrup and let them sit a while they will be soggy enough to eat.
I hope you each had a wonderful Easter! So thankful for all our blessings!
p.s. Adam is going a bit delirious right this second! He is bouncy around the kitchen, making waffles and singing Prince songs! Man, do I love this guy! Mmmwaaahhh! :)
