On Saturday Sydney and I had the pleasure of going to an over night trip to the Monterey Aquarium. Sydney's Brownie troop has worked towards this big camping adventure for two years and were so super excited about going. This is what we sold our Girl Scout Cookies for! :)
The trip up to Monterey was a three hour road trip each way. It was a hoot to see this line of minivans and SUV's following each other in a line on the freeway.
We were allowed into the aquarium at 7 pm after it closed to the public. Before we went in however, we spent some time at the "Denis the Menace" park down the street for some fun time with our troop. This park was so super fun, it had a real train, a rock wall, bridges and a bunch of slides and swings and zip lines. WAY FUN!
The evening in the museum was fun. We saw sea horses and otters and of course Jelly Fish! Gotta see the Jelly Fish! All the exhibits were open except for the penguins. There were hundreds of kids from all sorts of Boy Scouts and Charter schools there with us. You should have seen all the kids!! Our troop camped out and slept in the Enchanted Kelp Forest. The floor was so hard! But the good news is the girls did actually sleep on this trip, a little at least.
The Aquarium even fed us a snack of cookies and milk at night and breakfast in the morning.This trip was an A+ trip. The Aquarium put a lot of thought into the activities for the kids and the organization of the whole event. The staff was cheerful and informative and encouraging. I was thrilled with our brave Brownie troop leader and the entire group of gals!

It was really an adventure and I am so glad that I was able to go on this trip with Sydney. Last year I was pregnant and did not attend the zoo snooze with her when she slept over in the Santa Barbara Zoo. It was fun to be just with Sydney again for a bit. I loved watching her with her friends, I loved hanging out alone with her and watching her learn and get excited about animals and sea creatures. We had great girl times! Defiantly a time to remember!

We loved the "Secret Life of Sea Horses" exhibit! Did you know that the males are the ones who have the baby sea horses? Sydney also enjoyed the under water vessel exhibit. However she did not like the touch and feel tanks and refused to hold this star fish. Funny huh?
Did you know there is a breed of Sea Horses named Caballito de Sidney? We had to snap a picture near HER sea horses! Here are more pics with the Jelly fish! Our favorites!
