Dunce

Did you know that I am a Dunce?
Sure thing!
Let me explain...
After the Jonas Brothers concert my friend Kim offered for us to stay at her Grandma's home. Her Grandmother passed away last year but the home is still in the family and would be a great place for us to stay while we were in Los Angeles. How awesome huh? Really very generous.
Well, on Saturday morning after say all of our goodbyes to the house sitter Cheryl and meeting the neighbors, we all loaded in the car for the return journey home and possibly some school clothes shopping. So, here is the part where I become a dunce...
While I was backing up out of her driveway, I turned my car right into a brick pillar on the edge of the driveway! Yup! Sure did... Here is the damage. UGH!
So...I know what you're thinking...DER! How'd you do that Kathi?
I dunno.
I was too busy watching out for the cars and stuff behind me and I started to turn my wheel at the edge of the driveway and I just never noticed the pillar in my blind spot. Probably didn't help that I did not park the car the night before so I just never knew that sucker was there. Stupid huh?
My poor daughter started bawling when she saw that dent. Poor thing. She was scared. It's just a car, I kept telling her. I didn't cry but I did stare at it for a few moments while my brain pushed all that information around. You know what you think, "How much is my deductible? Did I damage anything that would make it undriveable? Is my husband going to kill me?"
Well, my husband is a gem and did nothing of the sort. No yelling.
That is HUGE. My last accident where a car was crunched was almost 20 years ago right after I got my license. You should have heard the yelling with that one! I bet our neighbors still talk about it!
Anyhow...stinks huh?
I'll keep you posted on all the glorious details for insurance adjusters and auto body shops.
Yay me!
