Did you know that in the middle of Chinatown, down a remote alley (but not unsafe) is an unmarked
Fortune Cookie Factory? There is! I found out a about it on the
Internet and had to seek it out when we were there! We found it, hidden away in a strange little tunnel of an alley, surrounded by Chinese Christian churches and old
Chinese folks wandering around. It was a small crammed little place, with a little old man yelling at you to hurry up and get out. Hysterical! If you wanted a picture it was 50 cents. And the fortune cookies were $4.50 a bag, but man, were they worth it!
I have to say, the process is fascinating, the environment was concerning (I didn't want to look to close in case I spotted health code violations. Ignorance is bliss you know) and the smell of that place is delicious!
If you are ever in San Fran, go down Ross alley and find this little hidden treasure.Don't worry, your nose will lead the way!

A picture of my mom and Sydney at her Chinese birthday lunch. All my mom kept saying was....
"MAN, this food is GOOD!"
