My Dad is smiling...

Somewhere in Heaven my Dad is smiling.
I am sure of it.
I know it, because today was the day, the first day ever, that Jack played with a little green army soldier.
I am not sure where these little green fellas came from. I didn't buy them. But today Jack found them. A handful of the weapon wielding guys, all standing around in their tough army men poses. He even found a little green tank. Seeing Jack with these instantly took me back. Back to the days for being a kid and not being able to use my restroom or take a bath because hundreds of these little guys were all over the sink and the back of toilet and the railing of the tub; each of them in a specific position ready to do battle. And heaven help me if I knocked one over. My brother would hunt me down for payback.
Seeing them also made me remember my dad. And his stories of living in the projects and being too poor for army men to play with so he had his battles with match sticks.
I know somewhere in Heaven, Dad is smiling. Smiling that his grandson is continuing his legacy of playing 'soldier'. I just wish my dad was here to see it.
It makes my heart ache when I think of things he misses.
But on second thought, I don't think he is missing a thing...
Smiling, that's what he was doing today. I am sure of it.

Tonight before bed, Jack played with his tank.
He thought it was a phone. Funny!
Love all of his expressions!
