Periorbital Celluitus

So on Monday night my eye itched. The left inside corner. Was kinda bugging me, but whatever right? On Tuesday the inner eye kinda stung, like I was going to get a stye or something. I was right because Wednesday morning I woke up to stye. A small one in the inner corner of my left eye. By 2p.m. is was a bit bigger, and by 5 pm it was stretching to half way across my upper eyelid to the pupil of my eye. It was just on the bottom part of my upper eyelid near my lashes.
Last night at midnight almost the whole bottom part of my upper eyelid near my lashes was inflamed and swollen and red. This morning I looked like this... And this looks good, I've had some drainage and swelling reduction since this morning. My whole left eye is swollen, as well as my most of my face. CRAZY HUH? Really! Who gets swollen between the eyes or on the bridge of the nose? My eye is nasty but the face swelling and pain are just too much! So I called the doctor and my mom and she drove me there this afternoon. I was told I have periorbital celluitus and its serious. I thought I just had a stye! My face is swollen and tender due to discharge and drainage in the Lymph nodes as my body tries to fight off the infection naturally. My eyeball is not infected but the surrounding tissue is and it could get worse fast.
UGH.
So I got a big ol shot today in the hip of an antibiotic and started oral antibiotics too. I may need to go back for another shot tomorrow. And they are monitoring me closely.
So, who would have thought this is how my week would end. Doesn't my eye know how busy I am ? I have the Mission Market Saturday and Sunday, tickets to the Melodrama this weekend. Our family is tutoring Sadie everyday and I have Xmas stuff to do. There's church stuff and musical rehearsals for everyone this weekend. This is not the time to have an eye thing going on.
I am one step away from intravenous antibiotics, my doctor said.
As in hospital stay. That is so crazy!

Anyway, I 'll keep you posted on what happens. Stupid eye.

Oh my gosh!

But you're right, you don't have time for this right now!

I hope you heal quickly and there are no worst case scenarios. I'll keep you in my prayers.
