Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans. This weekend it rained. It rained the whole week actually. So in an attempt not to let Sydney completely down, I decided on a wet cold non rainy moment to take the kids up to Avila to get a tree. I knew there was no way to go as a group on Saturday with Rocky, so I thought the next best thing was to go get the tree on Wed and have it already here so Sydney could at least trim it!
Did I mention I know nothing of Christmas trees? Douglas Fir? Huh? Natural cut? Dunno. Did we have a stake or screw stand? I have no clue! Did I bring rope? Nope.
What I did bring was three hungry, slightly whiny kids. One with a "super cute" outfit that was getting wet in the rain (can't have that!) One with a sky's the limit mentality, who wanted the biggest tree she could find (I talked her down from a 9 foot tree to a 6 foot tree) and one little fella who has NO IDEA that he cannot run in the mud without slipping and sliding!
It was an adventure but did end up getting a beauty! Here is the happy trio when we arrived.
Here is Jack waiting in the drizzle for the tree to be attached to the car. Thank Goodness for this young lad! I tipped him because he was SOOO nice!
So this weekend we went to church to trim the tree. We decided that it was silly to have a huge tree in our yard that cost a gazillion dollars and that we could use it for our Moms Club Christmas party and that we could leave it in Wedaa Hall and let the church enjoy it. Here is Sydney and her dad decorating it!
I hope its enjoyed by many this holiday!

Great holiday spirit Kathi!
And I love the flour fight shots. You're right, priceless memories are worth the mess. Now, will they try to recreate it again next year?
What kind of mom's group are you in? It sounds like you've made some good friends. (ps -- the pregnant friend doesn't even look pregnant.)
