Mary Poppins

This last Saturday Sydney and I headed on a road trip to Los Angeles to see the play Mary Poppins. She received the tickets for Christmas and have been looking forward to the mother / daughter date ever since.
We headed early in the morning and made it down to Thousand Oaks by around 1030 or so. We had brunch at Mimi's Cafe. I really liked this one on one meal with Sydney. We played "I spy" as we waited for our food and basically just chatted and enjoyed ourselves. It was nice not be interrupted by our little man. We missed the boys but loved the girl time. We made it to the Ahmanson theater about an hour before show time and that was great because we had time to look around and catch the sights. And of course snap some pictures!
Here is Sydney in front of the poster outside the theater
This is me and Syd outside our house before we left in the morning. Beautiful day on Saturday.
An awesome a cappella group that we loved. They were just singing on the plaza.
Mucho talent
The fountain between the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Ahmanson Theater.
That fountain was HUGE
Our view from the balcony.
We were in the first row of the balcony
so we could see pretty much everything.
We brought binoculars but we forgot them in the car.
Luckily we rented them inside, so when the show started
Sydney could zoom in and see everyone sweat on their brow.
A cute picture of Sydney right before the show started.
The song Chim Chim Cheree was in
our opinion the show stopper.
Sydney love it the best.
Bert actually climbed sideways and
upside down on the walls of the stage.
It was so amazing.
The most exciting part of our day was right at the end of the show. Mary Poppins flew over the audience on the lower seats and then up right in front of us in the balcony. And when I say us I mean me and Sydney. Seats 11 and 12. She literally hung in the air right in front of us with her bag and her umbrella and winked at Sydney as she waved at her. Then she was lifted in the ceiling right above our heads. So breathtaking.
I loved that Sydney and I spent the whole day together.
I loved that we clapped and ooohhhed and ahhhed
together in amazement.
I loved that we chatted about everything and nothing all day.
I love that we purchased a Mary Poppins snow globe
for her to keep and treasure.
I love that we will have this memory of that day forever.
