This weekend I had all kind of big plans. I thought maybe our family could sneak away to the beach. Or maybe we could impulsively head down to LA for one of the days, meet up with my girlfriend Jen who was visiting from Seattle and maybe spend the day at Universal Studios. **Side note: Costco had a pass for Universal Studios for cheap. $30 dollars for 5 visits, good for one year from the first date of use. How awesome is that? So we picked those up a couple of months ago and we figured we could use those Universal visits as Mom and Daughter days, or date days with Adam.
Anyhow, turns out that life had another plan. We ended up being kinda chained to the swing set this weekend. It seems that Adam rocked it out and finished building the swing set. Yahoo. But before he officially placed the swings on it and called it good, he wanted to weather protect it. Well, protectant we chose wasn't the fastest one. After applying the first coat all day Saturday and figuring we were done, the swing set looked terrible. TERRIBLE. Upon reading the can, it says you have to apply 3 COATS all within 3 DAYS to get it to look good and 'cure' properly. WHAT? And if you didn't apply the coats in a timely manner we would need to sand it and start over. Oh brother. And guess what, what the can said was true. We called a painter we know and he totally agreed.
3 coats.
How sad huh? So this weekend was spent sha-laking and sha-laking some more. But let me tell you, our swing set is really really protected! No rain or UV rays are going to warp this baby!
So, other than spending the weekend with paintbrush in hand, we just laid low. Stayed mellow. We went to Church, a birthday party, the kids had some backyard fun. It was nice. But I am looking forward to the next holiday weekend. I am ready to get away again!
