Bass Lake

Over Labor day weekend our family snuck away to Bass Lake. For those of you who don't know (like we didn't) Bass lake is a beautiful lake right near Yosemite. About 4 hours east from the Central Coast it is hidden in the mountains above Fresno and is in the exact center of California.
Our good family friends the Campbell's (Holly's parents) own a cabin up at Bass lake and they sometimes let friends rent it out from time to time. We were fortunate enough to be allowed to rent it over Labor Day weekend. Our family had be ancy to go for weeks and when the time came everyone was so excited! And it turned out to be as amazing as we all thought it would be.
The Cabin can sleep 14, so for the 4 of house the house was HUGE. A three story A frame, it had a game room down stairs and a loft upstairs. With a full kitchen and comfy beds it was a perfect place to get away too. And the views! The views of the lake were gorgeous!
The cabin come with its on private marina that the home owners association shares so that is where we spent our time on the water. No boats zipping past fast, it was a perfect place to let the kids play and to swim and hang out. Jack played on the boat launch where the water was graduated and he could just splash around. Adam and I took turns with Sydney swimming and tubing and the jumping in the lake. We just had the best time.
Here is Sydney on our way to the lake. We forgot hats. Thanks goodness we found some to borrow in the cabin. (thanks Holly!)
Where's Jack's head?? Under the brimmed hat to keep him sun safe! He had the best time playing in the sand.
Here is picture of the marina
My sweet husband
Swimming with Sydney. She finally got brave enough to jump off the floating platform behind us. Once she did it, she couldn't get enough. We had fun!
Our boy passed out!

Here is a picture of the cabin. We had to block the upper loft railing cause Jack apparently has NO depth perception and was attracted to the edge. Thank goodness for extra mattresses.
Next time we will bring a gate!
After fun times on the lake we came home to the cabin
to enjoy yummy dinners and smores.
Here is Jack trying to blow out his toasty smore!
Here are Adam and Sydney enjoying the evening on the deck with smores.
What a beautiful view behind them, don't you think?
In addition to going down to the lake we took a quick trip to Yosemite. Now that was an oxymoron because there really shouldn't be anything 'quick' about a trip to Yosemite. But with it only being about 30 minutes away we wanted to swing by and see it. The next time we go up to Bass lake we are freeing up an couple of days to explore the beautiful park.
We also are going to make time to take the steam engine we stumbled upon outside a town called Fish Camp on the way to Yosemite. It offers a moonlight ride with music, dinner and a bonfire. I think the kids would love it!
