So yesterday after picking up Sydney we went to get the mail at the UPS store. Our mail and packages still get delivered there, its so convenient. Karla and the gang are super helpful and we love dropping by every few days and saying hello!
OK..anyhow I rec'd an EOB yesterday from Blue Cross stating that the bill to my surgeon was get this, DENIED! UGH! And, payment in full needed to come from me in the amount of $6500.00. WHAT THE HECK!
So, Sydney saw my face drop because I totally hate this insurance stuff. I come from the land of Kaiser, pay your premium and a copay and you were good to go.
My appendix surgery when I was 14...$5.00!
My hospitalization for a nasty ear infection at age 16...$5.00!
Giving birth to Sydney at age 25...$5.00!
Seriously! So anytime I have to start thinking about Co-insurance and deductibles, contracted amounts and pre-authorization, I start to get a severely tight knot in my stomach and check this...I even perspire! DOUBLE UGH!
OK...long story short, last night we were in the hole financially almost seven grand and today...WOO LA! We are rich again. (OK, not rich, but I did call Adam and told him I saved us $6500.00)
I called Anthem Blue Cross this morning and calmly (aren't you proud of me) stated my case. I had everything I needed for battle. Bills, notes, reference numbers, pre-auths and after being placed on hold for 19 minutes, I was told there was an "ERROR" (HA!) and that the claim would be paid in full!
OH YEA BABY!
There was no one here to celebrate with but Jack, so we took a victory lap around the kitchen. See once in awhile the insurance God's do smile down on you!
