Walk Thru California

This Wednesday at Sydney's school was the "Walk Thru California" The PTA of our school pays for this wonderful program at our school for all 4th graders each year. It is so awesome. Sydney and her class dressed up like figures from California history and competed against one another in an afternoon of games and quizzes. Adam took the day off of work to attend with me, and my mom was awesome enough to watch Jack for the day so we could go baby free.
Adam and I met Sydney in her classroom and had lunch with her and her friends. Then we were able to go with her class to the fine arts room for an afternoon of California games and history.
Sydney dressed up as a pioneer girl who came for the Gold Rush. The other children dressed as Monks, Indians, and Mexicans. The gal who ran the event was vivacious and full of enthusiasm and energy. The kids went "back in time" thru the history of our State and we called up as 'experts' in certain subjects. As the kids answered questions their teams got points. Sydney was the team leaders of the "Green Sequoias" and although they did not win, they gave a great effort!
I was really glad to spend the day at school with Sydney and Adam. And I was really impressed with Sydney's knowledge of our state History and Geography! It was an excellent day!

The gal was squirting "Sentence Juice" on the kids
if they didn't answer their questions in a complete
sentence. Turns out Sydney was an "Expert!"

And a fun video of the dances the pioneers did!
