The Mile

Today when I picked up Sydney at school, she told me that she was told to run the mile.

Hmmmm really?

It was an all time high of 105 today.

Seriously.

So I immediately called the school and asked to speak to her teacher. Unfortunately, Mrs. G was not available to chat with so I left a message. Can you believe that? The mile in 100 degree heat? That was really the temp when Sydney did PE. She ran at 10 am and it was 94 at 945 and 100 degrees at 10:45 when she finished PE.

Mrs. G. phoned me back today and let me know that she was concerned as well, but the PE teacher made the 'call' to proceed with PE after chatting with office staff.

Excuse me?

Are there no guidelines? My child's safety shouldn't be determined by chatting with office secretaries, no matter how much I like them.

OY VEY!

So, I have a call into the Vice Principle, to find out more detail about the lack of common sense with the PE teacher and more info on the district guidelines.

We shall see what happens.
