Did you know that today is National Donut Day? I didn't even know such a day existed but it makes sense. Donuts are a part of lives, you know? I mean, I don't give them much thought usually but if you think about it, you can probably associate a memory or two to the sweet little circles of love.I was sharing with Adam recently a memory of a donut shop in Claremont named Yum Yum donuts. My best friends and I used to swing by this little shoppe after our late night teepeeing adventures. That is until one night at 2 am we found ants there. I am not talking about here or there, I am talking like a million ants all over the donut case. Actually in the donut case, on the trays, on the donuts! It was gross. And it was such a bummer because Jen and Kenya and I were on our way to Cal State Fullerton for a free morning concert by No Doubt and we really really really wanted our donuts! SUPER BIG BUMMER!
My other favorite donut memories surround early morning seminary. Ahhhh Seminary. Every morning during high school we would get up at the crack of dawn and make tracks to church to learn about God and religion. There were days I just wasn't feeling it! But oh, how I digged it on Fridays! Brother Clonts would bring donuts every Friday morning! YAY! And he, with love in his heart, would ALWAYS get me a pink one. They are my favorite. With sprinkles please!
Everyone else would grab the glazed or maple bars or even the old fashioned. But not me, it was always the pink one. I would even holler it out, "Save the pink one for me!" But I don't think I had to...Who would steal my donut? Especially at church!
Dear Brother Clonts, getting up extra early every Friday to give us our sugar rush. God Bless that man!
Donuts are really a part of our lives. Not daily but they are there. I am glad they got their own day. You know, Sydney and Adam and I have even started a tradition with them. Whenever we get the itch to yard sale, we always stop our local donut shop, Golden Donuts. We don't go often, but when we do stop by, at 6 am on a Saturday morning, they greet us by name. Seriously. We hadn't gone in 6 months but when Adam and Sydney walked in a few weeks ago, the owners stopped what they were doing and came and hugged my daughter. See, Sydney will have her own personal donut memory too!

How many donuts do you think he bought for all of us? And remember when he was trying to help us be healthier and bought those huge muffins? Which I'm sure were not at all healthier but I thought so when I was a senior.
We have a favorite donut place around here that serves minis, always hot. And of course, we like Krispy Kreme too.
