I always said I would NEVER get one of these. I winced when I saw other moms use them. Always reminded me of walking a dog. Why would moms "walk" their toddler? I mean, I never had to use one with Sydney...
But then I had a BOY!!
Our little critter is a runner (as in away from you...) A darter (as in into traffic...) and a ditcher (as in blink and you've lost him in the crowd...)
So, when I came across the monkey backpack/leash system, I had to get it.
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't like using it. And we hardly do. Unless we are going somewhere busy and crowded and then this little monkey is the best invention EVER!
It's basically a backpack, a little plush monkey Jack loves to wear. Cute as a button. But this little monkey has a really long tail that you can grab from a hidden little pouch and Whoola!, you can keep you a hold of your kiddo without holding hands.
This is an important feature, since my head strong toddler DOES NOT like to hold hands in a big group of people. He wants to be independent. He wants to run free. Laughing and giggling and being all "big boy". And if you try to carry him or hold his hand, he turns into a screaming, arm swinging, full fledge looney bird.
So, on the rarest of occasions, when I am not wanting the battle, we slip on this little backpack and away we go.
And everyone is happy.
Well, everyone but the strangers who wince and frown at me.
OH WELL!
I just smile and keep running after my son.
And I laugh when I hear them say,
"I'll never put one of those on my children"
HA! Never say Never!
Today Sydney wanted to be the guardian of Jack.
I think she rather enjoyed it!!

LOL! So funny Kathi! I too said I would NEVER use one..but then I had twins who like to run away in opposite directions and NEVER hold hands...its the best thing, esp for my son when we are at places like the zoo or fair! people stare, but hey it relieves a lot of my stress!!! but you are right..NEVER say never..:) hope you are well. Glad everyone is feeling better and you can finally enjoy fall!
Seema, I think you are a hero for having two! Yikes, running in opposite directions? I never thought of that!
Lets just smile big at the gals who stare.
Can't wait to see more Halloween pics of your cuties!
